  1. While I’m amused, I’m trying to think of any game that falls into that last step. Warhammer, Age of Conan, Darkfall… I don’t think any of them have gone the item mall route, have they?

      • I’m quibbling just because I think the Item Mall model runs completely counter to the FFA PvP conceit: player ability is paramount. When you can buy better gear and faster levels, that notion — none too stable in the first place — crumbles completely. I confess I’ve also never heard of CrimeCraft, but that’s probably more indicative of my attention span than anything else.

        Then of course there’s EVE, but I’m becoming convinced EVE simply exists to force people to add caveats to every MMO argument they make.
